St Lucia records 38 new cases of COVID-19

Yesterday Wednesday the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirmed 38 new cases of COVID-19, the highest single day total for several days.

The cases were processed on Tuesday from a total of 201 samples of which 176 were from the Ezra Long Laboratory and 25 from the Laboratory Services and Consultations Limited. These samples were collected from April 15 to 19. This number of positive cases makes up 18.9% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 23,161.


Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 8 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in country to date to 81. Currently, there are 5 positive cases of COVID-19 admitted at the Respiratory Hospital.


To date, a total of 53,424 individuals have been fully vaccinated. Another 5,361 are partially vaccinated and 7,205 have received their booster shot. Vaccination will take place today Thursday at various Wellness Centres from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
