Fond St. Jacques To Review Agro Tourism Park

The Fond St Jacques Development Committee (FSJDC) will be hosting a one day workshop on Wednesday to evaluate the proposed Agro Tourism Park (ATP) for the community.
The workshop at the Fond St. Jacques Parish Centre is intended to appraise the stakeholders and partners of the achievements and challenges; inform them of the where it stands in the planning process; and determine how to get to the final mark to open Saint Lucia’s first Agro Tourism Park later this year.
Said FSJDC Chairperson, Mrs Sandra Prospere: “When we started on this journey three years ago we were not fully aware what an Agro-Tourism Park was and what the benefits could be. Nevertheless, with assistance from our partners at GEF SGP UNDP, the IWECO Project and the Forestry Department we were able to define what we wanted the park to be and how we could pave a road towards its realisation. We are now proud to say that we are closer to realising that dream, but we need to review our progress and meticulously plan the next steps, which will be very important in achieving the very high standards we wish to achieve.”
The ATP is expected to create employment and encourage sustainable management of natural resources while providing visitors with an authentic cultural and gastronomic experience. The experience comprises traditional cuisine and drinks based on local fruits and vegetables; options to hike with nature’s orchestra on carpets of green, as well as bird watching, an outdoor spa, camping, waterfall bathing, and at nights, dancing to local music, all done within a safe environment.
The Fond St Jacques Development Committee is a non-profit umbrella organization created for the purpose of advocating and representing the collective physical, economic and social needs of all residents of Fond St Jacques.
