APL Veterans T10 T’nment

Two matches were played in the Adventist Premier League (APL) Sylvester James Veteran T10 Tounanment at the Grande Riviere Playing Field on Sunday 09th February. 


In the first exciting encounter, LA Guerre were sent in by Northeastern Vets (NE). They started well, but were pegged back by some tight bowling and wickets fell regularly. They eventually posted 65 runs in their 10 overs, captain Alisious Marquis top scoring with a well made 30.


In their reply, NE opening pair in the persons of the Charles brothers produced a healthy partnership. Eventually, Steve Charles was run out with the bowler fielding to his own bowling and dislodging the bails in the process. Shem Alexander joined his captain and together the pair chased the remaining runs. Shem crafted an elegant 20, while his captain Erenius Charles made 21 not out. Northeastern, won the match by nine wickets and Shem Alexander was named Man of the match with 20 not out and bowling of 2 overs for 2 runs.


In the second match, the National Insurance Coperation (NIC) were put in to bat by Labayee and in 10 overs, scored 53 runs.


Top scorer for NIC was Mc Naughten Mc Lean with a well made 21.


Bowling for Labayee, K. Lulu grabbed 3 wickets for 10 runs in his 2 overs.


Labayee made light work of the chase, overhauling the target without loss. The opening pair of Charles, with 24 and Kester Charlemagne who made 31  including 5 massive sixes, achieved victory with 55 in only 3.5 overs.
