135 New Cases of Covid 19

Yesterday Wednesday the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirmed a total of 135 new cases of COVID-19 from a total of 470 samples. This number of positive cases makes up 28.7% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 10, 217.

The Ministry of Health also reports two new COVID-19 deaths and one COVID-19 related death. All of these deaths occurred during the period September 2 to September 14.

To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 99 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 40. COVID-19 death #98 is a 34 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #99 is a 52 year old male from the Laborie district.

COVID-19 related death #40 is an 83 year old male from the Choiseul district. The Ministry of Health extends sympathizes to the families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 106 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in country to date to 2405. Three of these active cases are currently critical and twelve of them are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 35,437 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 28, 784 have received the second dose. A total of 6,989 individuals have received the first dose and 83 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Today Thursday, the vaccine will be given at the Vieux-Fort RC Parish Hall and People’s Discount Drugstore at St. Louis Street (by appointment only) from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.

Individuals can also call the Community Wellness Center to make an appointment to get vaccinated.
